Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon and still widely referred to as such, stands as Vietnam’s largest city, a bustling metropolis that embraces striking contradictions. Within its vibrant streets, one can find street vendors peddling fresh fruits and vegetables juxtaposed against glamorous western-style bars and upscale boutiques. With a history spanning just 300 years, the city was captured by the French in 1859 and subsequently became the capital of Indochina. Once hailed as the “Pearl of the Far East,” Saigon served as the capital of the US-backed Republic of Việt Nam from 1956 until its dramatic downfall in April 1975.
This comprehensive full-day city tour not only delves into Saigon’s tumultuous history but also offers a glimpse into the city’s captivating diversity.
